ABSTRACT
The joint strength of self-piercing riveting is a key factor for evaluating quality. Shot peening useful process to strengthen sheet metal. To improve the performance joints, shot and are combined in this work. AA5052-H32 aluminum alloy sheets, static fatigue experiments joints executed, effects on mechanical performed. results show that: can induce residual compressive stress surface layer which joints; In process, largest around −187.3 ± 5.1 MPa; by about 9.5%, has little tensile failure forms shot-peened increased 9.2%. main type damage lower sheets at contact zones with rivet leg. surfaces suffered less from fretting than that non-shot peened joints. strength, increased, crack growth rate decreased be innovatively performance.
