ABSTRACT
The effect of electropulsing on the microstructure formation in solidification mould flux has been investigated. Experimental characterization and image analysis reveals that treatment reduces 46% porosity increases interfacial perimeter to area ratio by 100%. latter provides strong evidence electric current influences energy. Dendrite arm spacing is reduced considerable. Electropulsing promotes anisotropic crystal growth retards interconnected network. favourable flow, liquid refilling lubrication. work demonstrates can be used modify slag hence control horizontal heat transfer rate mould, which desirable continuous casting advanced high strength steels.
