ABSTRACT
Abstract It is a win–win technology to inject CO 2 into the oil or gas reservoirs. Because it can reduce the greenhouse gas emission and enhance oil recovery. In some oil or gas reservoirs, the reservoir water and the strong heterogeneity make the CO 2 storage capacity difficult to be determined. In this research, the CO 2 storage evaluation method is introduced. This method considers the CO 2 displacement efficiency, the CO 2 sweep efficiency, the CO 2 dissolution in oil and gas and the CO 2 displacement mechanism. The key factors in this evaluation method are determined by the reservoir simulation method, the thermodynamic theories and the statistical analysis methods separately. At last, the CO 2 storage capacity evaluation system is built. This system can be used to evaluate the CO 2 storage capacity fast and reliably and it worth to be promoted in the area of CO 2 storage.
