ABSTRACT
Diabetes cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a metabolic disease and leading cause of heart failure among people with diabetes. Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) versatile technique capable combining the molecular specificity mass spatial information imaging. In this study, we used MSI to visualize metabolites in rat high resolution sensitivity. We optimized air flow-assisted desorption electrospray ionization (AFADESI)-MSI platform detect wide range metabolites, then matrix-assisted laser (MALDI)-MSI for increasing coverage improving localization resolution. AFADESI-MSI detected 214 149 positive negative analyses sections, respectively, while MALDI-MSI 61 analysis. Our study revealed heterogenous profile DCM model, over 105 region-specific changes levels metabolite classes, including carbohydrates, amino acids, nucleotides, their derivatives, fatty glycerol phospholipids, carnitines, metal ions. The repeated oral administration ferulic acid during 20 weeks significantly improved most disorders model. findings provide novel insights into mechanisms underlying potential as therapeutic agent treating condition.
