The “Affordable Medicines” Reimbursement Program in Ukraine: Framework Assessment and Impact Evaluation

In 2017, the government of Ukraine introduced new Affordable Medicines Program (AMP) for outpatient prescription medicines reimbursement. Despite evident program implementation benefits, it is highly important to examine AMP framework reveal its current tendencies, strengths, and shortcomings that might be useful support further development improvement reimbursement models. This study aimed evaluate how pricing strategies applied by affect potential provide patients with affordable medicines.The has been evaluated several parameters characterizing mechanisms, pharmaceutical manufacturers, scope covered program, consumption volumes. The data were collected from official databases open sources. statistics assessment was applied.In 2017 2021, demonstrated extensive growth number covered, volumes, international nonproprietary names reimbursed. limits used proportionally correlated manufacturers involved. At same time, containing reimbursed but not being decreasing.The significantly influences market a wider essential while effectively managing patients' healthcare spending. There need re-evaluation tool enabling timely diagnosing shortcomings, assessing effectiveness helping implement targeted according tendencies achievement desirable patient's health outcomes.
