ABSTRACT
Objectives: There is limited research on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among people who inject drugs (PWID).We evaluated the HRQoL and associated factors a cohort PWID in Australia. Methods: Participants were enrolled an observational study (the ETHOS Engage Study) May 2018 -September 2019 (Wave 1) November -June 2021 2).Participants completed EuroQol five-dimension five-level (EQ-5D-5L) survey at enrolment.Two-part models used to assess association clinical socioeconomic characteristics with EQ-5D-5L scores.Results: Among 2,395 participants (median age, 43 years; 66% male), 65% reported injecting drug use past month, 20% had current HCV infection, 68% no/mild liver fibrosis (F0/F1).Overall, mean EQ-VAS scores 0.78 57, respectively.In adjusted analysis, significantly lower include older ages, female (marginal effect= -0.03, P=0.014), being homeless -0.04, P=0.040), polysubstance -0.05, P<0.001).Factors higher Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander 0.03, P=0.021) recent 12 months.Current infection stage not reduced participants.Conclusions: experienced compared general population.Further needed understand this population facilitate development multifaceted care for beyond cure inform health economic analyses identifying optimal strategies PWID.
