ABSTRACT
This paper offers a comprehensive review on bibliometric analysis of the published research most recent generation urban gardens. Urban gardens have been part cities ever since; however, present focus latest wave this type garden, that has triggered by individual bottom-up initiatives driven sustainability-related motivations, which an impact cities' sustainable development. Its aim is to deliver overview scientific literature and comprehensively evidence it provides role in Sustainable Development. A carried out using Vosviewer software searching Web Science database for 'urban gardens', 'community gardens' 'allotments' as keywords. narrow selection co-cited publications pointed four major strands grouped into clusters. The first cluster ('Citizens') groups 'People, lifestyle sense community'. Citizens are found be triggers initiatives, 'motivations, purposes benefits' explored second strand captured cluster, 'Drivers' cluster. third group addresses context development cities. 'Cities' shows how contribute sustainability well some aspects can hinder it, namely not being acknowledged local public policies planners, while neglected planning framework. Finally, fourth ('Soil') refers shortcomings resulting from their situated vacant land only available due soil contamination, related with its lack institutional recognition. We were able conclude studies conducted directly there direct necessary relationships between three pillars years. Besides, little importance given whole garden issue, because reviewed work case studies, but also still much economic pressure affecting pyramid.
