ABSTRACT
Sclareol is a bioactive hydrophobic diterpene in the essential oil isolated from Salvia sclarea (Fam. Lamiaceae). has been widely studied due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. The present study aimed evaluate effects of different formulations (solid lipid nanoparticle free) on metabolic profile obese mice.Swiss male mice were randomly divided into two groups: standard diet (STD) high-fat (HFD). After obesity induction, each group was three treatment free (Sc), Sclareol-loaded (L-Sc) blank (L). Treatments performed every day during 30 days.L-Sc improves by decreasing adiposity, ameliorating insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance increasing HDL plasma levels. In addition, L-Sc decreased expression NF-KB, MCP-1 SERBP-1.The use sclareol together with nanocarriers may be promising for disorders reducing adipose tissue.
