ABSTRACT
Abstract The effect of some prepared compounds, namely pyridine derivatives on the corrosion of carbon steel in 2 M HCl solutions has been studied by electrochemical polarization method (potentiodynamic, Tafel extrapolation) as well as weight loss method. Generally, inhibition efficiency of the investigated compounds was found to depend on the concentration and the nature of the inhibitor. Results obtained from both potentiodynamic and weight loss techniques reveal that these compounds are good inhibitors. The presence of substitution in pyridine ring plays an important role in the percentage inhibition of the compounds under investigation. The adsorption of these compounds on the carbon steel follows a Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
