ABSTRACT
Abstract In the present work, synthesis of CaO-SiO2 catalysts using industrial wastes including lime mud and kaolin residue was proposed. The CaO-SiO2 catalysts were synthesized through a simple precipitation followed by calcination at 950 °C. The synthesized catalysts consisted of quartz, CaO and Ca(OH)2 proportion of which depended on CaO:SiO2 ratio. The catalytic activity was also investigated. The FAME yield reached up to 93% when the catalyst with CaO:SiO2 = 2 was used. However, it was found to decrease with numbers of reuse.
