ABSTRACT
Abstract Graphene oxide (GO) is prepared by chemical route via Hummer’s method from pure graphite powder and characterized structurally by XRD and FESEM analysis. A conductive type pellet sensor has been fabricated and the response of this GO based gas sensor towards ethylene gas emitted by fruits has been studied in a closed chamber in presence of unripe and ripe fruits at room temperature. The results show that, the conductivity of the developed sensor changes depending upon the amount of ethylene gas emitted from the fruit kept in the sensing chamber, and thus our sensor can clearly differentiate between an unripe and a ripe fruit.
