ABSTRACT
Devulcanizing ground-tire rubber (GTR) properly requires the removal of sulphur linkages that crosslink polymer. The volatile compounds (VSCs) released during process must be extracted from reactor to avoid any chemical recombination, and gas concentrations conveniently sensed extraction, along with a thermal sensoring payload, can used monitor whole devulcanization process. In this contribution, modified conventional microwave oven was devulcanize GTR. microwave-processed GTR evaluated by determining values its mass loss (ML), soluble fraction (sol fraction), variation electric permittivity. Results show direct relationship between energy delivered, sol fraction, VSCs concentrations, ML, permittivity values. Thus, paper demonstrates monitoring provide reliable indication ML and, consequently, evolution even at non-uniform temperature conditions.
