ABSTRACT
Paracoccidioides brasiliensis is the etiological agent of paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM), a chronic granulomatous mycosis prevalent in Latin America, and cell-mediated immunity represents main mode protection against this fungal infection. The conventional treatment for involves long periods therapy resulting sequels high frequency relapse. search new alternative methods thus necessary. With aim, objective work was to evaluate potential rPb27 rPb40 immunization reduce length relapse when used as an adjuvant fluconazole chemotherapy experimental PCM. Combined with drug two proteins reduced CFUs lung, liver spleen undetectable levels largely preserved tissue structure these organs. At same time, IFN-γ TNF-α were higher mice treated described above than infected-only mice, while very low production IL-10 TGF-β observed group. Thus, combined treatment, using recombinant addition chemotherapy, showed additive protective effect after intratracheal challenge. These results provide prospects immunotherapy
