ABSTRACT
Kinetochore is an essential protein complex required for accurate chromosome segregation. The constitutive centromere-associated network (CCAN), a subcomplex of the kinetochore, associates with centromeric chromatin and provides platform kinetochore assembly. CCAN CENP-C thought to be central hub centromere/kinetochore organization. However, role in assembly needs elucidated. Here, we demonstrate that both CCAN-binding domain C-terminal region includes Cupin are necessary sufficient chicken function. Structural biochemical analyses reveal self-oligomerization domains human CENP-C. We find oligomerization vital function, localization CCAN, These results suggest facilitates through its oligomerization.
