ABSTRACT
The European Prevention of Alzheimer Dementia (EPAD) is a multi-center study that aims to characterize the preclinical and prodromal stages Alzheimer's Disease. EPAD imaging dataset includes core (3D T1w, 3D FLAIR) advanced (ASL, diffusion MRI, resting-state fMRI) MRI sequences. Here, we give an overview semi-automatic multimodal multisite pipeline developed curate, preprocess, quality control (QC), compute image-derived phenotypes (IDPs) from dataset. This harmonizes DICOM data structure across sites performs standardized preprocessing steps. A semi-automated QC procedure was implemented visualize flag images next site-specific distributions features — i.e. metrics represent image quality. value each these evaluated through comparison with visual assessment step-wise parameter selection based on logistic regression. IDPs were computed 5 different modalities their sanity potential clinical relevance ascertained by assessing relationship biological markers aging dementia. v1500.0 release encompassed structural scans 1356 participants 842 fMRI, 831 dMRI, 858 ASL scans. From T1w images, identified 17 poor 61 moderate Five Signal Noise Ratio (SNR), Contrast (CNR), Coefficient Joint Variation (CJV), Foreground-Background energy (FBER) , Image Quality Rate (IQR) selected as most informative assessment. showed greater impairment in associations age dementia biomarkers, demonstrating for future analyses.
