ABSTRACT
Neutron diffraction has become a well-established technique for the determination of residual stresses in various structural materials and bulk industrial products because unique deep penetration, three-dimensional mapping capability, volume averaged measurements characteristic scattering neutron beam. To conduct experiments this research area, stress measurement system was established on general purpose powder diffractometer (GPPD) at China Spallation Source (CSNS), which now combines both conditions. The best d-space resolution medium-angle detector bank is Δd/d ≈ 0.33%. gauge precisely controlled by four-blade slits, Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) mirror radial collimators, φ2*2 mm 3. intelligent scanning positioning GPPD achieves high-precision sample positioning, with an accuracy up to 100μm. Until now, it completed standard cycle samples VAMAS shrink fit rings plugs known distributions, results confirming diffractometer's high sensitivity stress/strain gradients or components. A large number beam times are dedicated user researches including studies superalloys, high-entropy alloys, engineering steels, welds, more. This demonstrates that performance GPPD's test methods feasible effective.
