ABSTRACT
The impact of metakaolin mixtures on geopolymer formation and corresponding properties was evaluated by synthesizing geopolymers from different metakaolins 5 M potassium silicate. Mixture reactivity investigated viscosity, thermogravimetric (DTA-TGA), in situ infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) measurements. Furthermore, mechanical strength porosity measurements were undertaken consolidated materials. results have shown that the aluminum molar concentration governs setting time oligomer energy. Indeed, high content associated with purity lead to a low energy oligomer, whereas for containing more impurities, required higher. Regardless formulation, trends similar. Network characteristics assessed amorphous material analysis. It demonstrated (i) Si/Al < 1.5, an network is formed constant ratio, (ii) > networks are formed. zeta potential values corroborated these findings. Zeta governed impurities present metakaolins, which limit release aluminous species solution, emphasizing knowledge raw materials essential understand local formation.
