ABSTRACT
The zinc layer of zinc-coated steel is known to be a crucial factor for the spreading liquid aluminium on coated surface. For industrial brazing and welding processes these zinc-coatings enable fluxless joining between in many cases. Yet, reason beneficial effect wetting process not completely understood. Fundamental investigations behaviour single droplets different surfaces have revealed distinct difference at room temperature elevated regarding influence coating thicknesses. In this paper case continuous laser commercial galvanized sheets are presented. It shown that bead-on-plate beam brazing, thickness has measureable resulting angle length but does significant impact overlap welding. This might linked heat transfer conditions. results also strongly indicate proper initialbreakup oxide layers still required accomplish good surfaces.
