ABSTRACT
Sucrose preference test (SPT) is a most frequently applied method for measuring anhedonia, core symptom of depression, in rodents. However, the SPT still remains problematic mainly due to primitive, irregular, and inaccurate various types home-made equipment laboratories, causing imprecise, inconsistent, variable results. To overcome this issue, we devised novel automatic detection anhedonia mice using an electronic apparatus with its program automated detecting behavior drinking instead manual weighing water bottles. In system, liquid surface bottles was monitored electronically by infrared monitoring elements which were assembled beside plane information times duration each collected principal machine. A corresponding computer written installed connected machine outputting analyzing data. This new method, based on sensitive, reliable, adaptable evaluation stress- or drug-induced as well taste effects addictive drugs. Extensive application would greatly improve standardize behavioral assessment being instrumental antidepressant screening depression researching.
