ABSTRACT
The first accurate measurements of the α-decay branching ratio and half-life Iπ=1/2+ ground state in 181Tl have been made, along with determination magnetic moments I=1/2 spin assignments states 177,179Au. results are discussed within complementary systematics reduced widths nuclear g factors low-lying, neutron-deficient lead region. findings shed light on unexpected hindrance 1/2+→1/2+, 181Tl→g177Aug α decay, which is explained by a mixing π3s1/2 π2d3/2 configurations 177Aug, whilst 181Tlg remains near-pure π3s1/2. This conclusion inferred from factor 177Aug has an intermediate value between those states. A similar mixed configuration proposed for 179Au. may provide evidence triaxial shapes these nuclei.
