ABSTRACT
Objective To study the effects of daily treatment time on functional gain patients who have had a stroke. Design A retrospective cohort study. Setting An inpatient rehabilitation hospital (IRH) in northern California. Participants Three hundred sixty stroke and were discharged from IRH 2007. Interventions Average minutes therapy per day, including physical therapy, occupation speech language total treatment. Main Outcome Measures Functional measured by Independence Measure, activities living, mobility, cognition, Measure (FIM) scores. Results The sample mean age 64.8 years; 57.4% men 61.4% white. was 190.3 minutes, 26.0. longer therapeutic duration significantly associated with ( r = .23, P .0094). Patients received <3.0 hours day lower than did those treated ≥3.0 hours. No significant difference found between but <3.5 ≥3.5 day. occupational also corresponding subscale gains. In addition, hemorrhagic stroke, left brain injury, earlier admission, stay improvement. Conclusions demonstrated relationship during showed thresholds for optimal outcomes
