ABSTRACT
The surging demand for manganese (Mn) and the concomitant scarcity of its primary resources have ignited interest in extraction this pivotal metal from unconventional sources, notably mining tailings. This study delves into efficacy dilute reagents as a judicious discerning method extracting Mn sulphide tailings, concurrently offering environmental amelioration substantial economic advantages. Specifically, investigation concentrates on adept selective leaching rhodochrosite (MnCO3) mineral under optimized conditions. Under conditions 5 % HCl, liquid-to-solid ratio 5, 90-minute period, temperature at 50 °C, an exemplary 95 MnCO3 was achieved while incurring modest 12 Fe, principal impurity sample. Subsequent to process, MnO efficiently extracted solution, exhibiting purity surpassing 96 %, facilitated by introduction diluted ammonium hydroxide solution (0.1 M NH4OH) pH 9.8 48 °C. proposed methodology reprocessing tailings offers numerous benefits, including cost-effective recovery extraction, resulting used promoting circular economy mining. research substantiates significant stride towards sustainable utilization by-products, addressing both imperatives.
