ABSTRACT
To investigate the efficacy of transplantation autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) under arthroscopy with microfracture (MFX) compared alone. Eleven patients a symptomatic articular cartilage defect knee were included in study. They randomized to receive BMSCs MFX (cell-T group, n=7) or alone (control n=4). Clinical results evaluated using International Knee Documentation committee (IKDC) evaluation questionnaires and Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) before 48 weeks after surgery. Quantitative qualitative assessments repair tissue carried out at by T2 mapping magnetic resonance images (MRIs) observation (MOCART) scoring system follow-up MRI. No significant differences between preoperative postoperative IKDC KOOS observed cell-T control group. However, forty-eight surgery, group showed trend for greater QOL score (79.4 vs. 39.1, respectively; P=0.07). The value did not differ significantly two groups, but mean MOCART was higher than (P=0.02). Compared alone, BMSC resulted better healing subchondral as determined score. Clinically, gave weeks.
