ABSTRACT
Abstract Spherical-like NiO nanoparticles were synthesized by calcination of a new nickel precursor and characterized by FT-IR, UV–Vis, PL, XRD and TEM. Also, the electrochemical properties of the NiO products were studied. The results indicate that NiO product shows high reversible capacity of 992 mAh g−1 at current density of 100 mA g−1 and exhibits high rate performance of 675 mA h−1 at current density of 1000 mA g−1. The enhanced anode performance could be originate from the reversible redox reaction of Ni ↔ NiO and the reversible formation/decomposition reactions of the polymer/gel-like film, induced by the small size of NiO nanoparticles.
