ABSTRACT
Surgical resection is the cornerstone of curative treatment for retroperitoneal sarcomas (RPS), aiming complete excision, yet complexity RPS with its proximity to vital structures continues lead high local recurrence rates after surgery alone. Thus, role radiotherapy (RT) be refined improve control, which remains an important goal prevent recurrence. The recently completed global randomized trial evaluate and without preoperative RT - STRASS1, did not demonstrate a significant overall benefit neoadjuvant based on pre-specified definition abdominal recurrence-free survival, however, sensitivity analysis using standard outcomes by compliance protocol suggests histology-specific in well- some de-differentiated liposarcomas. Ultimately, multidisciplinary collaboration personalized approaches that consider histological sarcoma types patient-specific factors are imperative optimizing therapeutic strategy management RPS.
