ABSTRACT
Periodontitis is associated with several systemic diseases, and advanced periodontitis often linked to an extensive inflammatory microenvironment irregularly shaped alveolar bone defects. However, eliminating periodontal inflammation in a minimally invasive manner while repairing defects clinically challenging. In comparison traditional grafts, thermo-sensitive hydrogel can be injected into deep pockets, forming filling the situ. this study, porous injectable hydrogels containing magnesium ions were prepared by adding particles (MPs) glycerophosphate solution combining mixture chitosan solution. The incorporation of MPs created interconnected pores hydrogel, exhibiting high cytocompatibility maintaining cell viability, proliferation, spreading, osteogenesis vitro. Evaluation on experimental rat model, using micro-computed tomography histological analyses, demonstrated that Mg2+-containing effectively reduced inflammation, inhibited osteoclast activity, partially repaired inflammation-induced loss. These results suggest might promising candidates for treating periodontitis.
