ABSTRACT
Background: Postbariatric hypoglycemia (PBH) is a challenging condition affecting quality of life patients after bariatric surgery. However, its incidence and predictive factors remain debated. Objectives: To determine the PBH, identify predictors PBH assess association with weight trajectory surgery.Setting: University Hospital. Methods: Prospective observational cohort study including 222 nondiabetic who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass between 2014 2021, had an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and/or A1C (glycated hemoglobin) measurement prior to surgery were followed for at least 12 months.Diagnosis was made when symptoms accompanied by postprandial plasma level , 3.9 mmol/l or glycemia during continuous monitoring, resolution symptomatology carbohydrate consumption.Univariable multivariable logistic regression analyses performed associated PBH.Results: Out patients, 71 (32%) diagnosed PBH.The highest rate observed 2 years postbariatric cumulative 26.5%.Predictive higher risk younger age (OR 5 .97;95% CI: .94-.99; P 5.049) early dumping syndrome 3.05; 95% 1.62-6.04;P .0008).In regression, hours preoperative OGTT lower .8;95% .63-.98; .04).PBH not in our cohort. Conclusions: Younger time blood 120 minute are PBH.Early significantly could be used as red flag help PBH.
