Associations of socioeconomic status indicators and migrant status with risk of a low vegetable and fruit consumption in children

ABSTRACT
It is important to provide insight in potential target groups for interventions reduce socioeconomic inequalities children's vegetable/fruit consumption. In earlier studies often single indicators of status (SES) or migrant have been used. However, SES a multidimensional concept and different may measure dimensions. Our objective explore multiple associations with risk low consumption large multi-ethnic socioeconomically diverse sample children.We included 5,010 parents 4- 12-year-olds from Dutch public health survey administered 2018. Cross-sectional parental education, material deprivation, perceived financial difficulties, neighbourhood (NSES) (≤4 days week) vegetable fruit children were assessed using multilevel multivariable logistic regression models. Results are displayed as odds ratios (OR) 95% confidence intervals (CI).Of the 12-year-olds, 22.1% had 11.9% Low (OR 2.51; 95%CI: 2.05, 3.07) intermediate 1.83; 1.54, 2.17) deprivation 1.45; 1.19, 1.76), NSES 1.28; 1.04, 1.58) non-Western 1.94; 1.66, 2.26) associated higher 1.68; 1.31, 1.39; 1.12, 1.72) education 1.63; 11.27, 2.08) also consumption.Our findings indicate thus help identify groups.
