ABSTRACT
The mammalian adult small intestinal epithelium is a rapidly self-renewing tissue that maintained by pool of cycling stem cells intermingled with Paneth at the base crypts. These crypt exclusively express Lgr5 and require Wnt3 or, in its absence, Wnt2b. However, Frizzled (Fzd) receptor transmits these Wnt signals unknown. We determined expression profile Fzd receptors Lgr5+ cells, their immediate daughter cells. Here we show Fzd7 enriched binds Conditional deletion gene leads to cell loss vivo organoid death vitro. Crypts conventional knockout mice decreased basal signaling impaired capacity regenerate following deleterious insult. observations indicate required for robust Wnt-dependent processes
