ABSTRACT
Blockchain-based technologies have emerged as a mechanism for governing sustainability in agro-food supply chain, where voluntary standards been the main governance mechanisms over past decades. Despite growing body of research on blockchain-based technologies, relationship between these two chains remains poorly understood. Therefore, this study aims at addressing gap and explaining their interaction. We described assessed 16 cases against twelve sustainability-related assessment criteria. The results show that can be co-existing, synergistic, antagonistic. While most fall under co-existing relationship, we identified few with synergistic relationships, one case an antagonistic relationship. explain each type relation how system architecture goal technology implementation are key determinants This support stakeholders chain better understanding application to existing standards. It further inform those possibilities constructively collaborate focus positive social environmental impacts within chains.
