ABSTRACT
Despite worldwide efforts to develop technologies for autonomous vessels, large-scale implementation has yet be achieved. This lack of achievement is not only due technical and economic constraints but also decision-making individual stakeholders who may explore decisions narrowly, example solely on the maximization short-term profits. Therefore, it desirable consider other combinations by break out this situation. However, challenging grasp how affect entire maritime industry given market, technology, competition complexity. In study, we examine investment strategies that stakeholders, especially policymakers, should adopt promote more rapid adoption vessels. A simulator developed which emulates interplay three types activities: research development, manufacturing, operational activities. Patterns stakeholders' are predicted delay or accelerate introduction automation in industry. Specifically, study estimates fully vessels can accelerated than ten years through a mix subsidies prototyping, R&D (research development) deregulation new encouraging ship operators make safety-centric decisions.
