ABSTRACT
Background. Because in Poland transplant of organs from deceased donors is the predominant form transplant, anesthesiology and intensive care specialists play a key role process. Insight into work organization units, anesthesiologists' intensivists' level knowledge expertise, as well personal opinions regarding declaring brain death critical potential may be helpful increasing rates. Aim study. The objective this survey was to identify factors challenges influencing donation rates units hospitals various reference levels region. Methods. An anonymous, 31-question sent working one regions eastern Poland. completed by 133 physicians, quantitative analysis conducted on data collected submitted answers. Results. average age responders 46 years (±10.24 years). Anesthesiology made up 80.45% respondents. A vast majority respondents (97%) expressed positive attitude toward are willing donate their after (92.19%). Meanwhile, more than 50% them admit lack sufficient when it comes death. More 53% surveyed physicians have never had opportunity participate training methodology performing provided hospital or know about such taking place. (94.76%) see need for workshops organ donor determination would like attend them. Conclusions. This study shows outlook but at same time reveals expertise among doctors units. That why implementing education tools identification, declaration, maintenance brain-dead could keys enhancing donation.
