ABSTRACT
The safety of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines has been evaluated continuously in pre-licensure clinical trials, post-marketing surveillance systems, and observational studies. Most studies have found no significant association between serious adverse events HPV vaccination. However, these focused on Western populations; similar focusing Asian populations are insufficient. Our retrospective cohort study used the HPV-vaccination records junior high-school adolescent girls aged 12-15 years 2013 2018 Taiwan's National Immunization Information System linked them to a registry for beneficiaries Health Insurance Database (NHID) establish vaccinated group. We selected 19 diseases as events. compared incidence rates group same age population, we calculated standardized ratio (SIR) evaluate risk after Because onset different types diseases, set three periods subjects received vaccination: within 3 months, 1 year, during period (2013-2018). results showed SIRs Among events, disease with highest rate was fibromyalgia (73.23 cases per million population), lowest Crohn's (0.15 population). statistically increases indicated vaccination Given benefits vaccination, our research can reduce concerns about vaccine side effects, inform health policies improve public clinician's acceptance policy.
