ABSTRACT
The use of deep eutectic solvent (DES)-based treatment is a potential solution for the effective disposal heavy-metal-enriched biomass. However, energy-intensive recycling and inefficient reusability DESs hinder industrialization process. Herein, instead DESs, we design novel DES develop simultaneous process including biomass pretreatment conversion obtained into an adhesive. successfully removes approximately 97% Cd from biomass, over 60% lignin, small amount polysaccharides. inclusion these components improves adhesion DES, with mechanism revealed by molecular dynamics simulations. In addition, incorporating polymer network, DES-based adhesive acquires superior strength resistance to harsh environments. techno-economic analysis reveals competitive economic performance this These results offer promising waste-free strategy synergetic utilization plants.
