ABSTRACT
Bacterial leaf streak caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola (Xoc) is a continuous threat to rice cultivation, leading substantial yield losses with socioeconomic implications. Iron ions are essential mineral nutrients for plant growth, but little information available on how they influence mechanisms of immunity against Xoc. Here, we investigated the role myeloblastosis-related (MYB) transcriptional repressor OsMYBxoc1 in modulation resistance through control iron ion transport. Overexpression significantly increased resistance, whereas RNA-interference lines and knockout mutants showed opposite result. Suppression expression dampened immune response induced pathogen-associated molecular patterns. We demonstrated that binds specifically OsNRAMP5 promoter represses transcription OsNRAMP5. OsNRAMP5, negative regulator bacterial streak, possesses metal transport activity, inhibition content rice. Activity ion-dependent H
