ABSTRACT
Many individuals will be exposed to some form of traumatic stress in their lifetime which, turn, increases the likelihood developing stress-related disorders such as post-traumatic disorder (PTSD), major depressive (MDD) and anxiety (ANX). The development these is also influenced by genetics have heritability estimates ranging between ∼30 70%. In this review, we provide an overview findings genome-wide association studies for PTSD, depression ANX, observe a clear genetic overlap three diagnostic categories. We go on highlight results from transcriptomic epigenomic studies, and, given multifactorial nature disorders, gene-environment that been conducted date. Finally, discuss systems biology approaches are now seeing wider utility determining more holistic view complex disorders.
