ABSTRACT
We assessed the usefulness of LigaSure (Valleylab, Boulder, Colorado) vessel sealing system for vascular control during laparoscopic surgery and compared it with other available hemostatic modalities.A total 31 domestic pigs were divided into 5 groups. In groups 1 2 was titanium clips Endo-GIA (United States Surgical, Stamford, Connecticut) staples. group 3 standard Klepinger (Karl Storz, Culver City, California) bipolar forceps. 4 harmonic scalpel Trimax Surgical) forceps compared. in vivo application evaluated. The mm. sealed arteries up to 6 veins 12 diameter at supraphysiological bursting pressure. evaluated 13 a or less mean pressure 662 Hg (range 363 1,985) 11 233 63 440). Collateral tissue damage extended from site. Standard energy reliable some cases could not be accurately before division. injury The did reliably seal vessels larger than but resulted least acute collateral 0 mm.In porcine model is viable option management diameter.
