Urban and Rural Disparities of Personal Health Behaviors and the Influencing Factors During the COVID-19 Outbreak in China: Based on an Extended IMB Model

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective: Health behavior was conducive to control the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic. This study aimed determine differences in health behaviors and related factors among rural urban residents China. Methods: From February 14 22, 2020, during peak of COVID-19 epidemic China, a total 2449 participants (1783 (72.81%) 666 (27.19%) residents) were recruited by snowball sampling on WeChat QQ social platforms, both owned Tencent. Data collected through Web-questionnaire guided an information–motivation–behavioral skills model. The multiple-group structural equation model applied analyze factors. Results: Rural had lower scores than residents, even after adjusting demographic characteristics (33.86 vs 34.29, P = 0.042; score 40). Motivational, behavioral skills, stress direct positive negative influences residents. Information perception interventions effects but not All mediated Conclusions: suggests that government should pay attention substantial disparities implement different prevention intervention policies for targeting
