ABSTRACT
Abstract A world key to the 21 species of Stirtonia is presented. Three new are described from Neotropics: ibirapuitensis Aptroot, Käffer & S. M. Martins, with whitish cream amoeboid ascigerous areas lichexanthone on a greenish thallus without and ascospores 27–32×9·5–12·5 µm; punctiformis Aptroot Sipman, structures colour, consisting one or more brown asci walls surrounding tissue, in groups irregular lines 61–73×27–35 viridis L. I. Ferraro, Sipman Cáceres, mostly linear, branched anastomosing, whitish, contrasting often 50–58×15–22 µm. In addition, specimen neotropica reported that contains some patches lichexanthone, curvata Neotropics Brazil Netherlands Antilles, nivea Northern Hemisphere Puerto Rico. Also, Crypthonia divaricatica an irregular, thick divaricatic usnic acids flat white macrocephalic 5–9-septate 20–27×9·5–12·5 µm Mexico. While only was known as recently 2009, total number now 12, equal 12 Palaeotropics.
