Conservation assessment of the endemic plants of the Tuscan Archipelago, Italy

ABSTRACT
Abstract The Mediterranean islands support a rich diversity of flora, with high percentage endemic species. We used the IUCN categories and criteria to assess conservation status 16 plant taxa (species subspecies) Tuscan Archipelago, based on data collected during field surveys over 4 years. Our were sufficient use B, C D in our assessment. criterion B assessment all taxa, for four 11 three Centaurea gymnocarpa, Limonium doriae Silene capraria . According results L. doriae, Romulea insularis S. are categorized as Critically Endangered therefore require immediate measures; eight Endangered, two Vulnerable Near Threatened. Compared earlier assessments, species recategorized higher degree threat, lower five unchanged, one is assessed first time. Based categorization show that Archipelago directly and/or indirectly threatened by human activities, such tourism agriculture, invasive plants animals. National Park responsible area.
