ABSTRACT
Summary In light of the upcoming first International Technical Conference on Animal Genetic Resources (September 2007), experts have been interviewed to tell about their experiences in management animal genetic resources over past fifty years. They identified three milestones history (AnGR) management: foundation Rare Breeds Survival Trust (1973), FAO/UNEP 1980 Consultation AnGR, and signing Convention Biological Diversity (1992). Conservation AnGR started at grassroot level eventually led policies governmental level. The passion civil society organizations remains vital conserve local livestock breeds. financial support will be crucial for future conservation. next milestone a Global Plan Action that is expected as one outcome Conference.
