Fostering Career Awareness in Elementary Schools: Evaluation of an Intervention Proposal

ABSTRACT
Abstract Research literature has been increasingly focusing on children’s career development, especially when school contexts are considered. In the present study, we evaluate efficacy of a short-term intervention program designed to foster awareness in elementary school. The sample consisted 155 Portuguese fifth- and sixth-grade students, aged nine fifteen years old ( M = 11, SD 1). With quasi-experimental design, was divided into two groups, namely, participants controls. We used Career Awareness Scale for Children sociodemographic survey. Analyses covariance indicated moderate effect participation students’ (η p 2 .06, .003). results discussed considering as key context education aiming at promoting adaptability involvement construction their life pathways.
