ABSTRACT
We successfully synthesized the photofunctionalized octacalcium phosphate (OCP) with layered structures and high biosafety. Specifically, two systems of europium(III) ion (Eu3+)-doped OCP particles (OCP:Eu) succinate (Suc)-modified OCP:Eu (Suc-OCP:Eu) were by substituting an Eu3+ a Ca2+ while maintaining structures. The Suc-OCP:Eu (crystal shape sizes: ca. 0.4–1.0 μm) exhibited strong luminescence based on f–f transition ion, intensity quantum efficiency increased increasing initial Eu molar concentration to Ca+Eu up 10 mol %, indicating suppression quenching about 1.3 times as OCP:Eu, that hybridization Suc ions leads enhancement luminescent properties. sustained release from in simulated body fluid (SBF) was achieved for more than 168 h, rates at immersion time h 85, 60, 20% concentrations 0, 5, respectively. Moreover, intensity, efficiency, layer structure maintained h. Thus, effect properties doping SBF clarified. synergistic functions both photofunctions organic molecules biocompatible OCP, biological solution.
