ABSTRACT
Ionic liquids have proved to be excellent heat transfer fluids and alternatives common HTFs used in industry for exchangers other equipment. However, its industrial utilization depends on the cost/kg of production, competitive applications with biphenyl diphenyl oxide, alkylated aromatics, dimethyl polysiloxane oils, which degrade above 200 °C possess some environmental problems. The efficiency as a fluid fundamental thermophysical properties necessary model convective (density, capacity, thermal conductivity, viscosity) calculate coefficients given geometries. 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methanesulfonate [C2mim][CH3SO3] (CAS no. 145022-45-3) (ECOENG 110) is actually produced by BASF, under trade name Basionics ST 35, an assay ≥97% ≤0.5% water ≤2% chloride (Cl–). Density, speed sound, viscosity, electrical, conductivity product, after drying vacuum, were obtained temperature range 283.15–363.15 K, at atmospheric pressure. Values studied showed interesting phase behavior below melting point (303 K), suggests existence second order–disorder transitions (λ-type) before reaching freezing point. A study was carried out investigate toxicity saltwater crustaceous. lethal concentration determined Artemia, LC50 found higher than organic solvent, such ethylene glycol.
