ABSTRACT
As one of most common synthetic phenolic antioxidants, tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) has received increasing attention due to the potential risk for liver damage and carcinogenesis. Herein, a simple rapid fluorescent switchable methodology was developed highly selective sensitive determination TBHQ by utilizing competitive interaction between photoinduced electron transfer (PET) effect carbon dots (CDs)/Fe(III) ions complexation reaction TBHQ/Fe(III) ions. This novel sensing platform allows determining in wider range from 0.5 80 μg mL–1 with low detection limit 0.01 mL–1. Furthermore, high specificity good accuracy recoveries ranging 94.29 105.82% spiked edible oil samples are obtained present method, confirming its applicability trace complex food matrix. Thus, method provides effective approach specific screening products, which is beneficial monitoring reducing overuse during storage.
