ABSTRACT
Owing to their stimulus responsive color changing properties, polydiacetylenes (PDAs) have been extensively investigated as colorimetric sensors. Thermochromic properties of PDAs the central focus a number investigations that were aimed not only at gaining fundamental understanding physical basis change but also developing practical applications temperature The thermochromic transition PDA polymer is closely related melting point corresponding diacetylene (DA) monomer. In addition, majority described date undergo blue-to-red above room because are generally derived from DA monomers points temperature. current study, we developed series low designed based on reasoning removal sources for strong headgroup interactions would lower monomers. This strategy was used design and fabrication sensors display transitions in range 5–30 °C. Moreover, temperatures found decrease by ca. 10 °C when alkyl chain length monomer truncated two methylene units. results FTIR Raman spectroscopic analyses suggest adopts an all-trans conformation blue-phase some gauche forms exist red-phase PDA. Finally, new stable up 300 °C, processable nature enables them be fabricated nanofiber employing anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane template.
