ABSTRACT
N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) is frequently used as a solvent because of its unique physical properties that allow it to solubilize both organic and inorganic substances. It has also found broad applications catalyst for variety chemical transformations donor many functional groups in synthetic chemistry. However, DMF incompatible with wide substances resulted incidents over the years. Analysis literature information indicates those can be categorized acids, bases, halogenated reagents, oxidants, reductants. This comprehensive review potential hazards using reactions will serve an educational resource promote awareness such safety broader chemistry community encourage scientists develop appropriate control strategies mitigate risks associated use reactions.
