ABSTRACT
The organocatalyzed aerobic oxidation of aldehydes to acids was reproduced from the original report. In- and ex-situ analysis reaction mixture as function time reveals that, unlike claim in publication, aromatic aliphatic leads predominantly formation peracids. latter are transformed into corresponding carboxylic during workup procedure. buildup peracids solution poses safety problems that should not be overlooked. This finding has also an influence on way new catalysts investigated improve this well aldehyde-mediated co-oxidation.
