ABSTRACT
We have designed a new Bodipy scaffold for efficient in vivo photoacoustic (PA) imaging of nanoparticles commonly used as drug nanovectors. The dye has an optimized absorption band the near-infrared window biological tissue and low fluorescence quantum yield that leads to good generation efficiency. After Bodipy-initiated ring-opening polymerization lactide, polylactide-Bodipy was formulated into PEGylated (NPs) by mixing with PLA-PEG at different concentrations. Formulated NPs around 100 nm exhibit excellent PA properties: 760 molar coefficient between molecular absorbers gold NPs. Highly improved photostability compared cyanine-labeled PLA well innocuity cultured macrophages were demonstrated. intravenous injection healthy animals, easily detected using commercial system spectral unmixing, opening way their use theranostic agents.
