ABSTRACT
The supported transition metal oxides, chlorides, carbides, and so forth (MXn), represent an important type of catalyst for redox processes. MXn–support interaction, analogous to metal-support plays a critical role in reactions. Herein, we illustrated the nature monolayer CuCl2–γ-Al2O3 its catalytic consequence induced by support facets ethylene oxychlorination. Kinetic theoretical studies, combined with operando spectroscopy demonstrated effects interaction between CuCl2 various exposed γ-Al2O3 (110) (100). Al2O3(110) shows better performance high activity, selectivity, stability. (111) facet deactivated rapidly, dichloride (EDC) selectivity decreased 30%; while activity on was much higher, EDC can be well kept at >99% long-term stability test. multi-scale in-depth characterizations revealed concept chloride–support determining performance. We believe this method tuning reactivity active species manipulating their coordination surfaces as ligand shall spark inspiration other applications.
